Voices for Impact

The complexity in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a creative and comprehensive approach that turns knowledge into impact. P4i is committed to fostering collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of knowledge among experts, innovators, and thought leaders by setting up ‘Voices for Impact’, a Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP). The platform will be an independent pillar of P4i, setting this initiative apart from current practices, with a focus on translating evidence into a pathway for action through dialogue.

Addressing Climate Change as a ‘Threat Multiplier’

In an era of polycrisis, where environmental changes increasingly affect public health, the intersection of health and climate resilience is critical. Climate change disproportionately impacts women and children, especially in low- and middle-income countries like India. In drought-prone regions of the country, climate-induced livelihood losses lead to school dropouts, early marriages, and perpetuate cycles of poverty. Women bear the heaviest burden of climate impacts, facing disproportionate challenges that threaten their health, livelihoods, and safety. However, their leadership and participation in climate action are crucial for shaping inclusive and sustainable solutions that benefit entire communities. The first session of Voices for Impact highlighted how climate change intensifies existing vulnerabilities, especially for women and children, making the call for gender-responsive strategies more urgent than ever. The key themes explored included the importance of gender-responsive policies, leveraging AI and data for climate adaptation, the power of localized solutions, and fostering collaborative grant-making to ensure sustainable and impactful outcomes.
