C K Mishra

With more than 37 years of public service, C.K. Mishra has served as an administrator, policy-maker and public health strategist holding a wide range of assignments in the fields of health, education, industry and power. As Former Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, he has led Indian negotiations at important Forums such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and various other multilateral events. Prior to this, he was Secretary of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and also held the additional charge of the Ministry of AYUSH for some time. Earlier as Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Health Mission, he led one of the largest public health programs globally. He headed the Empowered Group on Availability of Hospitals, Isolation & Quarantine Facilities, Disease Surveillance & Testing and critical training formed under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 for COVID-19 management in 2020. Mr Mishra is recognized for his significant contributions to improving the Indian public health landscape, key amongst which is Mission Indradhanush, the largest and globally renowned child immunization programme, that he spearheaded. He also worked to deliver health care at the provincial level and played a key role in eradicating polio in the toughest region of Bihar. His views on maternal and child heath are well accepted globally as he brings a practical implementation perspective to his views.
